Head to the Eastern side of the building and get to the top of the yellow-netted scaffolding to find the Spider-Bot. I can’t say that I noticed one dropped frame in my dozens of hours of playing. This allows Spider-Man 2 to shine in its most jaw-dropping moments – of which the main story offers many – as explosive action, sparkling electrical effects, and fittingly slimy symbiote gloop fill the screen. That being said, I can’t help but have hoped for a few more flashes of Gotham City to make their way into New York.
But bells and whistles aside, what makes the game so special — even among other Spider-media — is its ability to let players relish the minutiae. Like Stan said, the beauty of Spider-Man is being him, and while Peter’s sections mostly push the narrative forward in operatic ways, the Miles Morales sections make up the soul of the game in meaningful ways. Much of his storyline is centered around the “friendly neighborhood” part of Spider-Man and its here where the immersion and length provided by the video game medium set this title apart from the print and movies.
Here, look for a park area framed by buildings, just East of the oval-shaped science center on the coast. Check the side of the green-roofed buildings on the East side of the park to find the Spider-Bot pulsing up on the wall. Head for Avengers Tower (the tall skyscraper with the red A on it), then check the buildings just West of it. The Spider-Bot will be here on the North face of one of the brick buildings.
But out of this expansive rogues gallery, Venom is the magnum opus that reprises every emotional note the rest of the game has played. I have experienced multiple crashes while playing the game, with the first coming right after the initial cutscenes and before any gameplay. In one particularly annoying instance, the game crashed and even though I closed out of it completely, the audio kept blaring from my computer speakers until I reset my PC.

However, the situation gets decisively more powerful when we look at the requirements for playing with high or ultimate ray tracing enabled. For Spider-Man 2 high ray tracing specs, you’ll need a GPU architecture upgrade, where only an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 or AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT will do. The web-slingers are back on PC, and while the minimum specs will work for older gaming PCs, ray tracing will require a more powerful rig. Customers enjoy the combat mechanics in the game, praising its engaging and jam-packed action sequences, with one customer noting that boss battles are the best in the series. Peter’s combat system changes with the appearance of the symbiote, adding spectacular and dangerous abilities. The combat system in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is still built on acrobatic maneuvers and web shooting for non-lethal stunning of opponents during fights, but it has been expanded and improved. Both heroes received four active combat skills that can be chosen from a larger number of options, and the skills from previous games have been retained by the heroes and do not need to be unlocked again.
The only villains we get are Kraven, Venom, Sandman, The Lizard, and Mysterio (kind of). They set up The Chameleon and Carnage but they don’t actually do anything. And that’s not even mentioning side characters like Silver Sable who easily could’ve returned in some capacity. With the small exception of a Mister Negative boss fight, but he doesn’t do anything until that point.
